Former BBC New Generation Artists and one of the USA’s leading ensembles, since its inception in 2005 The Escher Quartet has received acclaim for its profound musical insight and rare tonal beauty, and has made a distinctive impression throughout the world.

In this 2016 Festival season of international string quartets, the highly acclaimed Escher Quartet is travelling from the USA especially to perform at the wonderfully glamorous Long Gallery at Englefield House, with a programme of music from Haydn, Elgar and Szymanowski, whose bewitching Quartet No 1 in C major is a remarkable blend of late Romanticism and impressionism.

“They hold the listener spellbound from first bar to last.” BBC Music Magazine
