Pianist Emanuel Ax is one of today's most highly regarded musicians and the Festival is extremely privileged to be able to bring this esteemed performer to Newbury for a solo recital. Emanuel Ax is renowned for not only his poetic temperament and unsurpassed virtuosity, but also for the exceptional breadth of his performing activity.

His Festival programme includes the celebrated Appassionata Sonata, a wonderful example of Beethoven's powerful and turbulent style. Likewise Schumann's Papillons is an appealing early composition, while his Fantasie finds him at the height of his expressive powers.
