John Williams
International Celebrity Recital

Born in Melbourne, Australia in 1941 and taught the guitar by his
father, John Williams can be regarded as a foremost ambassador
of the guitar. By the early 1960s he had performed in London,
Paris, Madrid, Japan, Russia and the US: he has since toured the
world playing both solo and with orchestra and regularly on radio
and TV. In 2007 he was presented with an Edison lifetime
achievement award.
As part of the Festival's International Celebrity Recital series, John
Williams comes to the Corn Exchange to present a programme of
popular classical and contemporary repertoire. John Williams will
perform works by Albeniz, Domenico Scarlatti, Carlo Domeniconi,
Peter Sculthorpe as well as some of his own pieces plus some
Venezuelan music.
