Award-winning harpsichordist Sophie Yates is probably best known for her affinity with English and French music. She has performed on most of the playable instruments surviving in Britain and has made a series of award- winning recordings for Chandos.

Together with Irmgard Schaller, Sophie Yates has chosen a programme of violin sonatas which today are more usually heard with piano but at this concert will be performed with the composers' original intention of harpsichord accompaniment. When violin and harpsichord come together both instruments' full range of expressiveness make these familiar works sound dramatically new and fresh.
