| Tchaikovsky | ‘The Seasons’ Op.37 |
| Chopin | Ballade Op.47 in A flat major Sonata Op.58 in B minor |
Following this afternoon’s Piano Competition Final the Festival is delighted to present a recital by one of the judges, the distinguished Russian pianist Mikhail Kazakevich. His programme begins with Tchaikovsky’s ‘The Seasons’, twelve separate pieces written to reflect each month of the year. This is followed by two major works by Chopin, continuing the Festival’s celebration of the composer’s 200th anniversary.
Russian born Mikhail Kazakevich’s sensational western debut at the International Schubert Competition in Dortmund in 1991 launched his international career and he has gone on to give numerous solo recitals and perform with many leading orchestras. Mikhail also combines his intense concert activity with teaching, mainly at London’s Trinity College of Music, where he is professor of piano.
