Anoushka Shankar has tremendous talent and understanding of the great musical tradition of India. As well as her own solo work and compositions she has championed her father’s work, giving the premiere in 2009 of his Sitar Concerto No 3 at Carnegie Hall.
‘Sudakshini’ is centred on the musical traditions of Southern India. Newly composed ragas will be interspersed with traditional South Indian music. Anoushka believes in the timelessness and relevance of the ancient, classical Indian musical styles, and with her ensemble of versatile musicians creates a sensitively global, timeless sound.
“Ravi Shankar has said he is waiting for the day when he will be known as Anoushka’s father; he may not have long to wait.” The Boston Globe
