Dutchman Tim Kliphuis ranks among the world's finest violinists. Trained at the Amsterdam Conservatoire, his roots are firmly imbedded in both classical music and jazz and he has been hailed as “the legitimate heir to Stéphane Grappelli’s crown” (Acoustic Magazine). Tim’s “swingy, zingy mix” (Glasgow Herald) of Gypsy jazz, classical, world music and folk has something for everybody. Chamber players at heart, Tim and his musicians effortlessly switch between the idioms of JS Bach, Claude Debussy, Django Reinhardt and Astor Piazzolla to create a blend of sonatas, grooves, airs and blues. Kliphuis’ fame has spread throughout the UK with concerts at Edinburgh, Brecon and Birmingham Jazz Festivals, The Sage Gateshead and Ronnie Scott’s in London.
Tim’s programme will include works by JS Bach, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Benny Goodman, Stéphane Grappelli, Grieg, Liszt, Mozart and Schumann.
