David Parry returns with the renowned English Chamber Orchestra and our own Festival Chorus, brought together again for a glorious all English programme to end the 2010 Festival.
The rich sound of Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on a theme of Thomas Tallis, presented with the support of The Vaughan Williams Charitable Trust to celebrate the work’s centenary, is followed by Toby Spence’s Festival debut singing Britten’s ravishing early masterpiece, the Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings. The Chorus comes into its own after the interval, to perform all of Handel’s grand and majestic Coronation Anthems, including the splendid Zadok the Priest, composed for the coronation of George II.
