‘Mornability’ Jazzy Early Music, and Early Music Jazz’d
The 1607 Ensemble, an innovative early music/contemporary vocal quartet, has appeared on BBC Radio 3’s “In Tune” and “The Early Music Show,” at the Brighton Early Music Festival and at various venues in London. The four members hail from Britain, Canada and America and their wide variety of musical backgrounds, tastes, and styles results in a closely-knit ensemble, equally at home singing French Renaissance music or jazz standards; saucy madrigals or serene motets.
Their seamless blend, precise intonation, and infectious audience appeal has allowed them to develop a reputation for wowing audiences, bringing down the house with energy, passion, brilliance, and showmanship. As part of their ongoing exploration of jazz, The 1607 Ensemble will premiere a new, lighter programme, including compositions and arrangements by the group members themselves.
