Selected by YCAT in 2008, over the last year the Heath Quartet has won 1st Prize and the Audience Prize at the Tromp International Competition in Eindhoven and 2nd Prize at the Haydn International Competition in Vienna. The Quartet gave recitals throughout the Netherlands, including their Concertgebouw debut, and appeared at Sage Gateshead (broadcast by BBC Radio 3) and the Festspiele Mecklenburg- Vorpommern in Germany. In 2010, as well as enjoying a busy performing schedule, they will record at the Frits Philips Music Centre in Eindhoven and undertake a two week residency at The Banff Centre in Canada.
The Quartet open their programme with Haydn’s Quartet in B minor Op 64 No 2 which is followed by one of the most significant quartets ever written by Beethoven, his String Quartet in E Flat Op 127.
“The Heath Quartet displayed a rare musicality... A keen interpretive insight combined with refined playing, this is one of the most interesting young quartets I have heard in recent years.” The Strad Magazine
