Debussy Cello Sonata
Fauré Elegie : Romance : Papillon
Bridge Mélodie : Spring Song : Scherzo
Britten Sonata in C major

Philip Higham won 1st Prize in the 2008 International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig, the first ever British prize winner since the competition began, and in 2009 won 1st Prize in the International Lutoslawski Cello Competition in Warsaw. Simon Lane leads a diverse musical life, performing with both instrumentalists and singers at major venues and festivals across the UK and abroad, and is also the recipient of many awards.

In this lunchtime recital works by Fauré and Bridge are framed by two of the finest masterpieces written for cello and piano, the brief but technically demanding Cello Sonata by Debussy and the intense Sonata in C which was composed by Britten for Mstislav Rostropovich.
