Ex Cathedra

Friday 23 May

Jeffrey Skidmore   conductor

From its home in Birmingham, Ex Cathedra has established an international reputation as a leading UK choir and Early Music ensemble. Under founder and artistic director Jeffrey Skidmore, Ex Cathedra is known for its vibrant performances and a passion for seeking out not only the best but the unfamiliar and the unexpected in the choral repertoire.

Moon Sun and All Things, its fabulous programme of Baroque music, reveals hidden treasures from 17th century Latin America, with works by Capillas, Fernandes, Franco, Araujo, Zipoli, Sumaya and Hernández sung in Spanish, Latin and the languages of the Aztecs and the Incas.

With 32 singers, 9 players from the Ex Cathedra Baroque Ensemble and in the marvellous setting of Douai Abbey, this is certainly a concert not to be missed.
