Keston Sutherland - Meet the Poet
4.30pm (finishes aprox 5.20pm)
Free but advanced booking advised
Newbury Library
An opportunity to meet Keston Sutherland, the Festivalʼs
resident poet, and hear him read some of his own poetry.
Keston will talk about his life as a poet, discuss how his
childhood in Newbury continues to influence his thinking about
the art, and offer some thoughts on the condition of poetry in
Britain today.
A long poem by Keston Sutherland called ʻHot White Andyʼ
was published last year in Chicago Review in a special issue
devoted to British poetry. In January of this year, Guardian
journalist Giles Foden wrote an article (ʻThe Noughties So Far:
The Bookʼ 2/1/08), in which he singles Keston out as one of
two poets of the decade to watch.
Keston will be taking any questions members of the audience
might have at the end of the session.
