Grimethorpe Colliery Band

Saturday 17 May

Garry E Cutt   musical director

England's oldest and best loved traditional brass band makes its long awaited return to the Festival in a popular programme of traditional classics and modern arrangements.

Music will include Festival Music by Eric Ball, Henry the Fifth by William Walton and Music for Battle Creek by Philip Sparke - the Sparke piece is the 2007 English National Brass Band Championships Test Piece performed by the Band when they won the title at the Royal Albert Hall.

The Grimethorpe Colliery Band is probably best known for providing the soundrack to the film Brassed Off, which then went on to be nominated for a BAFTA award.
