SUMMARY:The Music of Leonard Bernstein
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nLeonard Bernstein was a titan of 20th Century music. His timeless compositions for choirs\, soloists and orchestras remain essential parts of the musical canon along with the many great songs he wrote that have now become jazz standards. Among his most memorable creations are his extensive musical theatre compositions of which West Side Story is the most famous. \nGiving voice to this wide collection\, in his original and most creative manner comes with his trio Rob Barron\, a creative jazz pianist\, who recognises that Bernstein’s imaginative creations give themselves generously to a reimagined and updated\, improvised interpretation. Rob devotes the first half to West Side Story\, whilst the second half captures a wide range of music from Bernstein’s Candide\, On The Town\, Wonderful Town\, A Quiet Place and more. \nSponsored by Mr and Mrs Alastair Storey \n \nPerformers\n\nRob Barron piano\nJeremy Brown double bass\nMatt Skelton drums\nEmma Smith guest vocalist \n\n\nTickets\n£30 / £20 / FREE for under 30s \n(includes £1.25 Corn Exchange booking fee) \nBooking Dates\nPlatinum Friends Priority booking – from 10.00am Tuesday 11 February 2025\nGold Friends booking – from 10.00am Wednesday 12 February 2025\nFriends booking – from 10.00am Thursday 13 February 2025 \nJoin the Friends of the Festival now to get access to the priority booking window. \nPublic booking – from 10.00am Tuesday 25 February 2025 \n
