SUMMARY:Samson Tsoy - Lunchtime Recital
DESCRIPTION:Sadly this event has now been cancelled due to the second national Lockdown. If you have booked tickets the Box Office will be in touch with you directly in the coming days.\n  \nNewbury Spring Festival is delighted to welcome rising star young pianist Samson Tsoy to the Corn Exchange to perform a special one hour lunch time recital. This will be a live event at the Corn Exchange following all necessary social-distancing regulations. \nBoth as a soloist and chamber musician Samson has appeared in prestigious venues and festivals around the world including the Barbican\, Royal Festival Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. \nThe 2020 global pandemic changed the calendar of every artist; during the summer of 2020 Samson Tsoy performed at the Wigmore Hall lockdown recital series in June\, at Fidelio Orchestra Cafe in July and at Bold Tendencies’ multi-storey car park in August and September. Each recital was highly praised by London press with 5-star reviews in the Sunday Times\, The Guardian\, The Independent\, The Daily Mail\, The Observer and The Arts Desk. \nWe’re thrilled to be able to welcome Samson for this special hour-long recital to include works by Schubert and Brahms. \nPlease note\, you must wear a face covering at all times while in the Corn Exchange.\nProgramme\nSchubert        4 Impromptus op.90\nBrahms          Handel Variations op. 24 \nPerformer\nSamson Tsoy\nSamson Tsoy \nLauded for the originality and intense drama of his interpretations\, pianist Samson Tsoy leads an international career and has already been invited to perform with renowned conductors including Valery Gergiev with the Mariinsky Orchestra\, Alexander Vedernikov with the BBC Symphony Orchestra\, Diego Masson as part of Philharmonia Orchestra’s “Stravinsky: Myths and Rituals” series\, Junajo Mena with the Real Filharmonía de Galicia and Roberto Minczuk with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. \n\nThis recital is to replace the 2020 Sheepdrove Piano Competition Prize Winner’s recital as the 2020 piano competition\, has necessarily been cancelled. \nCovid-Safe restrictions\nTickets must be booked in advance and we ask customers to select an e-ticket if possible. If you are unable to book an e-ticket\, please speak to the Corn Exchange Box Office team. \nWe will be limiting the number of people admitted to this event to ensure appropriate social distancing and will be leaving space between each group. To facilitate social distancing\, the Corn Exchange have implemented a new way of booking online. You will see that there are seats available in bubbles of different group sizes and you will need to select the one that is appropriate for your booking. You must only book tickets for people in your household. If you wish to come with someone who is not in your household\, they will need to book tickets in a separate transaction. This is for the purposes of Track and Trace and so that we can ensure that government guidelines are being adhered to for the safety of all of our visitors. \nIn order to make performances possible\, the Corn Exchange will be rebuilding the auditorium seating to increase capacity whilst still adhering to social distancing measures. The new seating layout will have more space between rows\, the new seats will have individual arm rests\, and each household group will be kept separate using dividing Perspex screens. \nAudience members will be asked to follow Covid-Safe rules at all times when in the Corn Exchange. Details of the processes and the changes the Corn Exchange have made to follow government and industry guidelines is available here. \nIn the unlikely situation that the event has to be cancelled\, tickets will be either deferred to a later date\, or refunded.  \n
