DESCRIPTION:4Girls 4Harps\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA special one-off event hosted by the Friends of Newbury Spring Festival. \nEleanor Turner\, one of the members of 4 Girls 4 Harps will perform an hour long recital. The first half of the recital will focus on the history of the instrument\, and the classical repertoire. The second part of the recital will feature more contemporary works exploring the range of possibilities with the Harp. The performance will be followed by tea and cake\, with a chance to meet and talk to Eleanor. \n\nEleanor Turner is one of the best harpists of her generation. A thoroughly versatile musician and a one-of-a-kind performer. \nEleanor is truly comfortable playing in any style or genre and her performances range from solo engagements to folk music\, and from harp and flute duos to Caribbean music and harp ensembles. She won Second Prize in the 2011 Gaudeamus Interpreters Competition for contemporary music and in 2007 won the European Harp Competition.
