DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nDirected by prize-winning violinist\, Akiko Ono\, the Maiastra Piano Quintet is the result of a recent course run by The Aidan Woodcock Charitable Trust\, which provides opportunities for emerging and talented young professionals who are hoping to make chamber music a major part of their careers. \nIn today’s programme we shall hear Schumann’s much-loved piano quintet. Although written for his wife to play the piano part\, illness led to her place being taken by Mendelssohn at the first performance. SUMMARY:A Taste of America at The Vineyard
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nThe Festival’s journey of music and wine continues with a tasting of American food and Californian wines\, followed by a performance of some of the finest American tunes of the 1920s and onwards from The Great American Songbook. \nJazz duo Miranda Heldt and Jamie Safir have been exploring and performing The Great American Songbook together since they met in 2019. Both graduates of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama\, Miranda studied classical voice while Jamie focussed on jazz piano. \nResident artists at The Ritz London\, Miranda and Jamie continue to perform together throughout the UK\, including shows at Crazy Coqs at Zédels\, Hampstead Jazz Club and various Soho venues.
