SUMMARY:Alinde Quintet
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nThe Alinde Quintet\, a prizewinning ensemble at the Carl Nielsen Chamber Music Competition in Copenhagen in 2023 and a rising star ensemble of Czech chamber music will bring an all-Czech programme to the Festival. Their concert will be part of the Year of Czech Music supported by the Czech Centre London. \nStarting with a colourful quintet by Pavel Haas\, a promising composer whose life was cut short in a concentration camp\, the quintet will continue with a suite from The Cunning Little Vixen by Pavel Haas’ teacher Leoš Janáček and conclude with Antonín Dvořák‘s magnificent American Quartet\, one of the most famous Czech chamber pieces of all time. \nSponsored by The Headley Trust  \nPart of the Year of Czech Music 2024. SUMMARY:The Sheepdrove Recital
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nMikhail Kazakevich began his education at Gorky State Conservatoire (part of the Moscow Conservatoire) where he graduated with honors\, and then continued as a Professor at the conservatory for eight years following his graduation. From there he has gone on to an international career with performances throughout Europe\, Asia and the Middle East. \nThe first half of his recital will feature two works by Mozart before focussing on five of the 18 Chopin Polonaises. DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n25th Anniversary Concert\nThe Newbury Spring Festival Chorus celebrate their 25th anniversary in this special concert with Southbank Sinfonia and some of the leading soloists of their generation. \nHilary Cronin made a remarkable Festival debut when she appeared in Kintbury Church in 2023\, before receiving a standing ovation at Carnegie Hall as soprano soloist in the Monteverdi Choir’s recent USA tour. Tonight she sings two of Handel’s most dazzling virtuoso arias for soprano and trumpet.
