SUMMARY:Marc Chagall
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nWandering Jew or Citizen of the World?\nWe’re delighted to be joining with the Arts Society\, Newbury for this fascinating lecture by Monica Bohm-Duchen looking at the life of Marc Chagall. \nAs his work makes abundantly clear\, Marc Chagall (1887-1985) remained deeply loyal to his humble Russian-Jewish origins. Yet he also wished his art to have a universal appeal – which\, judging by its popularity\, it undoubtedly achieved. \nThis lecture will trace his long\, chequered and colourful career\, giving particular emphasis to the creative tensions produced by the very different cultural and artistic environments in which he found himself: from his birth in Belarus\, through Russia\, Germany\, France and America before returning to France. \nFor information about The Arts Society Newbury visit: www.theartssocietynewbury.org.uk \nMonica Bohm-Duchen lecturer \n\n\n\n\nTickets\n£15\n(includes £1.25 Corn Exchange booking fee per ticket) \n  \n
