SUMMARY:London Mozart Players
DESCRIPTION:Ben Goldscheider is recognised as one of the leading musicians of his generation. Tonight he makes a welcome return to the Festival with the London Mozart Players.\nHe will be performing the ever-popular Mozart Horn Concerto No.4\, but he will also play a new work Sirens by GRAMMY-nominated composer Anna Clyne. Dedicated to tonight’s horn soloist Ben Goldscheider\, the music draws on the myth of the sirens who lured sailors to their doom with their irresistible voices. Working closely together\, Anna and Ben pushed the boundaries of the horn to conjure the sirens’ hypotonic sound world; ethereal\, beguiling and completely entrancing. \nThe concert opens with Elgar’s ever-popular Introduction & Allegro\, and after the interval Mendelssohn’s Symphony No.1 sparkles with the classical spirit of Mozart\, while the symphonic fingerprints of Haydn and Beethoven forcefully emerge throughout the composition. \nPerformers\nBen Goldscheider horn\nJonathan Bloxham conductor\nLondon Mozart Players \nSponsored by:\nMrs Rosamond Brown\nKilfinan Trust \nPLEASE NOTE this concert should be booked via the Festival website or by telephoning the Festival office on 01635 32421 \nBooking Dates\nTuesday 27 January – Platinum Friends\nWednesday 28 January – Gold Friends\nFriday 30 January – Friends\nTuesday 10 February – Public Booking\nFind out how to become a friend and access priority booking.\n\nExplore the music\n\n\n\n
