She is one of the leading lyric sopranos of her generation and performs in the world’s greatest opera houses, including Covent Garden where, in 2019, she starred alongside Joyce Di Donato in Handel’s Agrippina . Accompanying Lucy is Anna Tilbrook, one of Britain’s most exciting pianists, with a considerable reputation in song recitals and chamber music. Their recital will include some of the composer’s greatest vocal masterpieces including The Four Last Songs . The prestigious competition, open to students from all the major UK conservatoires, was founded in 2009 by the Sheepdrove Trust. The winning pianist’s programme will feature works by Rachmaninov. Today’s recital is an opportunity to hear more of the winning pianist following the competition held at Sheepdrove, Lambourn on Sunday 14 May (see page 30).
