The final concert of this year’s Spring Festival opens, appropriately, with his tone poem Spring Song for Orchestra , and closes with one of his most popular and romantic works, Sibelius’s Symphony No.1. In between these Nordic masterworks, Tobias Feldmann, one of the most distinguished musical personalities of his generation, will perform Beethoven’s monumental Violin Concerto, his only major work for solo violin and orchestra, and the concerto for which Tobias is internationally renowned. Starting with the silent film and the early ‘talkies’ in The Great Depression years, the Septet also plays music fromwartime movies, musicals and even the classic Disney blockbusters. Including Cheek to Cheek , As Time Goes By , Sing Sing Sing , Days of Wine and Roses , and When you Wish upon a Star . Expect to be tempted to dance and sing along to this much- loved music, played by one of the most sparkling and talented jazz ensembles of our day.
