Local events to look out for

It was lovely to see some of you at the first Friends afternoon concert a couple of weeks ago. It was a wonderful afternoon with some beautiful music – not to mention some delicious cake! It was also great opportunity to meet in person in the months between Festivals.

There are plenty more local musical events happening this side of Christmas, we’ve put together a list of just a few here. Hopefully some of them might be of interest.

Cecilia Consort – 12 November
7.30pm, Doaui Abbey
The Cecilia consort winter concert will feature the gorgeous Requiem by Duruflé, amongst other pieces.

Newbury Chamber Choir – 19 November

The rarely performed Jommelli Requiem will be sung alonside other works for the Advent period.

A concert featuring works by Weber, Dvorak and the Elgar Cello Concerto featuring Oliver Simpson.

Kris Drever – 27 November

Award-winning guitarist, singer, songwriter and prolific collaborator Kris Drever has been a leading light on the UK roots scene for well over a decade.

Newbury Choral Society – 3 December
7.30pm, St Nicolas Church, Newbury
A celebtration of Christmas with music including Britten’s Ceremony of Carols.

Beenham Wind Orchestra and Cecilia Consort – 11 December
4.30pm, St. John’s Church, Newbury
A Christmas concert with a difference, featuring The Cecilia Consort in collaboration with the Beenham Wind Orchestra! Expect seasonal favourites as well as carols you can sing along to!
