2024 Young Festival Critics – Winners Announced
Newbury Spring Festival is delighted to announce the winners of the 2024 Young Festival Critics Competition. The winners were presented with certificates by the Mayor of Newbury, Councillor Andy Moore at the Festival Sponsors’ Evening. The celebration dinner was held at The Post on Monday 25 November.
School age children were invited to write or record a review of any of the Festival events they attended back in May. Once the reviews were submitted they were reviewed by a panel of judges. The winners of the three age categories are:
5-8 Years old: Hannah Hunter-Smart:
9-11 Years old: Martha Clayton:
12-18 Years old: Erica Phillips:
Each of the winners won an opportunity for four lessons at Good Vibes Music Academy, the opportunity to work with Trish Lee at Newbury Weekly News to write and publish another concert review in the future, and chance to present a concert review on Kennet Radio.
The winners will also be invited back to the Festival in 2025 to interview one of artists performing in the next Festival. Details of the 2025 Festival were also announced at Monday’s event, which have now been updated on the Festival’s website.
The Festival is grateful to the panel of judges who gave their time to read and comment on the submitted reviews.
