Mozart’s Serenade for 13 Winds, his ‘Gran Partita’ is a masterpiece of the genre and one of the composer’s most popular and accomplished works, full of variety, melody and contrapuntal invention. Celebrated in Peter Schaffer’s ‘Amadeus’, as Salieri muses enviously on Mozart’s divine genius, this performance has been commissioned by the Festival from students of London’s Royal College of Music led by Italian postgraduate conductor protégé Nicolò Foron who is at the start of a spectacular international career.
The concert will conclude with Richard Strauss’s homage to Mozart’s masterpiece with his own Serenade for 13 Winds and other works showcasing members of the ensemble.
