The Carice Singers: A Bridge of Song
Under their founder and conductor George Parris, The Carice Singers are celebrating their 10th Anniversary in 2021. Named after Elgar’s daughter, they specialise in British choral music and have gained an enviable reputation for superb performances and imaginative programming. They have recorded for Naxos and the BBC Music Magazine, and are regular visitors to the Cheltenham and Oxford Lieder Festivals.
Using the power of song as its motivation, this is a programme which will resonate in the aftermath of the pandemic. Combining stirring pieces by British composers with new Nordic favourites together with a brief reflection of events of the USA’s recent past in works by Alex Freeman and Undine Smith Moore. The performance will include Matthew Whittall’s brand new piece Songs of Travel, specially composed for The Carice Singers.
