Mendlessohn’s ravishing Octet, composed at the age of 16, is one of the miracles of the string repertoire. The Oculi Ensemble preface this masterpiece with two of Strauss’ finest works for string ensemble including their arrangement of Metamorphosen which they recorded in 2021 to
worldwide critical acclaim.
The Oculi Ensemble is a flexible string ensemble derived from internationally acclaimed string quartet players from the Badke, Doric, Piatti, Navarra, Albion and Idomeneo. They are passionate about performing and discovering the breadth of string repertoire composed for various
combinations of up to 8 players.
“Their luxuriant style seems almost to belong to another time, perhaps the golden age of the Busch and Budapest Quartets.”
