Sound Beginnings: The Firebird
This special family-friendly performance of Stravinsky’s The Firebird, arranged for two pianos and narrator.
The story tells about the hero Prince Ivan who together with the magical Firebird defeats the evil sorcerer Kaschey the Immortal and rescues captured princesses.
The scenes from Stravinsky’s ballet (1910) are arranged for 4 hands by the performers specially for this event. Colourful pictures of Russian folklore handicraft and famous illustrations by Ivan Bilibin (Stravinsky’s contemporary) are used in the performance.
