Newbury Spring Festival is one of the most popular and successful music festivals in the South of England. Over the last 40 years the Festival has grown hugely in size and quality building up a reputation of international status. The very best young musical stars appear alongside some of the world’s most distinguished and famous names. Here’s a short video to show you more of what the Festival has to offer:
Welcome to the 45th Newbury Spring Festival, where we will also celebrate the 25th Anniversary of our wonderful Festival Chorus, and the 15th Anniversary of our own Sheepdrove Piano Competition.
This anniversary year continues our long-standing tradition of bringing the best artists from around the world to Newbury and its immediate area as we welcome musicians from as far afield as India and Japan, USA, Argentina, Spain, Ukraine, Holland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, and of course United Kingdom and Ireland. As you look through the following pages, see if you spot any countries I have missed out!
Our international programme, “two weeks of world-class music” also continues to feature some of the finest young artists emerging on the international scene in both our Young Artist Recital Series and within the evening concerts, as soloists and ensembles alongside some of the greatest and most established musicians whom we are honoured to welcome to Newbury. And our evolving education programme offers local youngsters opportunities to experience workshops and performances by Festival musicians, as well as to perform themselves within the main Festival programme.
I am immensely proud of what we have achieved over the years, and grateful to our numerous loyal sponsors and Friends without whom none of this would be possible. I look forward to seeing you during the Festival fortnight and to celebrating with you my own 25th Anniversary as Festival Director.
Mark Eynon
